History:

Begendik was established by Mehmet and Hamdi Begendik who were from a family dealing with trade in the period before Republic. Begendik Store Enterprises is the leader in Turkey to bring new dimensions in retail bussiness. It has brought a new Department Store style in services, textile, furniture and restaurant. Mehmet and Hamdi Begendik started the trade sector as cattle dealers, continued with selling nuts and then specialized in wholesale distributing food and goods. In the 1980's Begendik became one of the biggest stores in Turkey in wholesale distributing food and goods. In 1986 due to the economic changes in Turkey and the population flow to the cities the retail sector became more important. Retailing started in Kayseri and in two years 5 stores were opened. After the substructure investments, Kocatepe store was opened in 1993 in Ankara and one in 1994 in Akkopru. Another store was opened in 1995 in Istanbul Carousel and an outlet store with a restaurant was opened in 1997 in Izmit. At the end of 1997 the Etlik store was opened and the Begendik Kayseri Cuisine which serves local food was opened.

The main activity of Begendik Store Enterprises is management of retail stores. However food production and packaging,is among the activities of the enterprises.

Today there are 9 stores and 2 restaurants in 4 cities which are in service.

The most important values of Begendik are working policies, work morals, work philosophy and the manner in earning money. These values develop and are managed according to the conditions. The companies culture is followed by all including the watchmen and the director.

As goods vary so much in types, and problems become more complex; Begendik prefers to overcome these not with coincidental or intuitional ways but with the latest technology in the retail sectore for the welfare of itself and customers.

  Begendik stores have been planned according to the necessities of people. In order to have customer pleasure and shopping convenience the goods have been grouped and the shelf heights have been arranged.
